FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…

Psalm 85:6 – Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Revival is almost here! Pastor and Evangelist Brother Willie May will hold revival from Sunday morning, October 23rd, through Friday evening, October 28th. We invite you to attend! We encourage you to attend and let the Holy Spirit work in you to revive the flame of faith and restore your joy in the Lord Jesus Christ. Revival is vital to the growth and development of individual believers who make up the universal and local Church.

Many churches don’t have revivals nowadays. There are multiple reasons given: not needed, can’t fit into the schedule, not worthwhile, etc. In days past, a revival was a time when souls found salvation and Churches were revitalized and refocused to carry out the Great Commission. What has changed? I believe we’ve forgotten who needs revival. It isn’t the church building that needs reviving. It’s the members, born-again believers. Our daily interaction with the world can dim our lampshade, dull our witness, and cause us to be diminished vessels for the Lord’s work.

A Spirit-filled, Spirit-led revival is precisely what the groaning Church in America needs. We are holding Revival at Beulah Ann. In the days and weeks before our evangelist arrives, we are preparing for it. We need believers to pray for a Holy Spirit revival. We urge you to pray for church members to show up and experience revival so the Church, as a whole, can thrive! Pray that God will pour out his blessings. Maybe you haven’t been to Church in years. Come back now! Perhaps you’ve never met the new pastor. Introduce yourself at the next service. What if you’ve never been to Church? I encourage you to come and experience Jesus Christ. God demonstrated His love for you and me on the cross, His love letter to us signed in the precious blood of Jesus.    ~~Pastor Greg

MISSION PROJECTS

In September and now in October, we are collecting funds for shipping costs for Samaritan’s Purse Love in a Shoebox, also known as Operation Christmas Child. The shipping charge to send each shoebox has risen to $10, which includes trucking our boxes to North Carolina, then trucking them to airports, then flying them around the world. Although some individuals and classes provide shipping funds for their boxes, some are not able to, but we have always been able to cover all our boxes. To give, write “Shoebox” on the memo line of your check.

In November, we will need funds for the Christmas Basket project.

ABWM COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECT for September was collecting clean, gently used winter coats and sweaters for the Huntington City Mission. We gathered 38 coats, several of them donated from the WOWS rummage sale. Thanks everyone!

Our project for October is collecting body wash and wipes for the Huntington Hospice House. If you have some to donate, please place them in the laundry basket in the front foyer. Thanks!

GIDEON SPEAKER

Brandon Stewart visited on Sept. 18, and shared a story with us concerning a man in Ohio who lost his job, became an alcoholic, lost everything and found himself living in the streets. Then he found a Gideon Bible from a hotel and it saved his soul and his life!

The Gideons was started by a group of businessmen who were staying at a hotel in Montana in 1899, and as they got acquainted, they found they had much in common as Christian men. They felt it would be good to have Bibles available to all in the hotel. Now Gideons place Bibles and New Testaments in hotels, motels, hospitals, and give them to school children. They serve in more than 200 countries and 109 languages.

He told of a group who were trying to take Testaments to a school in the Philippines, but they could not find it. They saw a different school, and decided just to stop and give them out there. The principal had tears in her eyes as she said she had been praying for this, and needed them for a values class they taught.

He said the Gideons need our prayers, they need more members, and they need our finances. The Bibles they distribute cost $5 each, and the Testaments are $1.56. A Bible placed in a hotel will last about six years and could reach as many as 2,000 people.

He encouraged us to use the card rack we have in the foyer, which enables you to give Bibles in honor or in memorial.

Our offering was $1,434.11, which will buy 286 Bibles or 919 New Testaments.
