FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:11
Why would God send delusion to people he sent Christ to save? Verse 10 answers. “… because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” The gospel goes forth. God’s son, born in the flesh, sinless, gave His life and shed His blood to redeem the lost who will come to Him in faith, believing. The resurrection verifies the gospel’s truth, but the time is fast approaching when the opportunity to be saved will be gone.
Paul writes in these passages of a time when the antichrist will arise. He’ll be the demonic agent of Satan, counterfeiting the apostles’ works and leading untold millions to hell through lies and deceit. But sadly, many will go willingly because of the temporary pleasures they experience without regard for their eternal salvation. Could this time be upon us? It’s possible. Mind-altering madness is accessible through physical pleasure, pharmaceutical dosage, and other forms of manipulation.
Furthermore, recent technological innovation allows one to escape the cares of this world through an immersive experience in a virtual world. The devil uses deception and distraction from reality to keep you from what matters most. There is a future after physical death, and if you fail to make peace with God in this life, you’ll have no peace at all in the afterlife. Scripture says, “… behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
We pray that you open your mind and heart to the gospel truth. Just as there is physical and temporal life, there is spiritual and eternal life. Reject Christ and suffer hell and damnation. Repent, believe, and live in peace with God eternally through our Lord Christ Jesus. ~~Pastor Greg

DAY CAMP 2022
Theme: Water Works – “Riding the Waves of God’s Love”
The waves of God’s Love were in abundance this year at Day Camp, July 11-15. It is amazing to be a part of such a wonderful group of volunteers. The excitement of the Campers was a title wave. After two years of NO Day Camp due to the Covid-19 they were more than happy to be back at camp. For twenty-three years it has been such a blessing. To see former campers bringing their children to Day Camp. WOW. We have Bible lessons, Music, Crafts and other activities. We could not have Day Camp every year if not for the financial and physical support of our Association churches. A BIG thank you to Good Hope Baptist, Milton Baptist, New Baptist, Twenty-Sixth Street and Union Baptist, and Camp Pastors Tim Arthur and Chad Clark.
Praising God for His Love and many Blessings.

YOUTH MINISTRIES
On the Fifth Sunday of July, we heard from some campers who spent a week at Camp Cowen this summer. Ava Litteral enjoyed the carnival themed fun and games and was in a “great cabin.” Rebecca Hunt said the theme was presented as a TV show “Upside Down Kingdom.” Hannah Wallace also enjoyed camp, and her brother Beckett made a lot of friends at his first time at camp. He plans to go back again. Reese Hunt and Rachel Hunt also went to camp.
Also, Levi, Isaac and Jeremiah, the sons of Marc and Angie Chapman got to attend Camp Caleb in Louisa, KY. Levi said it rained every day but they had good fellowship. The theme was “To Know God.” They learned more about how to read the Bible and pray. Isaac said he enjoyed the worship, and singing. He said you can always sing for God.
On Sept. 10 the Youth will leave the church at 8 am to travel to Facing Hunger Foodbank. They will spend the morning packing food boxes to be distributed at drop off points throughout the region. ~~ Mitzi Beckett
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY NEWS
What a summer the kids have had. But now everyone is coming home to get ready for school this month. Parents are back with their children coming to church. What a blessing that is to see Mom and Dad bringing their family to God’s house!
On August 20th The Crazy Tie Guy and family will be with us from 5:00 – 7:30 pm. What a Blessing and such a talented family. Nathan Dorrell is a child evangelist who uses his juggling/circus talent to tell the message of Christ. The whole family is amazing. More to tell you about next newsletter.
Back to School party is Sunday, August 21st at 11 am and 6:30 pm – Please pray for our kids as they go back to school. Chunky has a storage room downstairs with items that have been purchased by several people for any child who needs school items. Thank you church for your generosity.
Our prayer buddy ministry appreciates those who have signed up to pray for our children. If you do not have one and would like one see Boo. Kids talk about their prayer buddies and love to see them in church. Also, they love having their pictures made with their prayer buddy. So, see Boo for a picture!
Jesus Kids will be back practicing on August 28th at 6:30 pm for 1st – 5th graders. We already have a singing schedule. Jesus Kids are a blessing.
Our children are learning three sets of Bible Questions. Several have already memorized all three sets. We are so proud of them. So, we have challenged the adult church to a Bible Quiz Bowl Sunday, September 11 at 7 pm. You will be amazed at all the kids have learned.

GOOD NEWS NUGGETS
Pastor Greg and his family took a well- deserved vacation at the end of August, and the pulpit was well taken care of by Rev. Chelsie Gibson and Rev. George Leese.
Robert Jackson did a wonderful job of singing for us Sunday morning, July 17. “We are Standing on Holy Ground” and “Bow the Knee” are both impactful songs. He also shared with us how he is related to church members from our early history, most notably, J. C. Petit.
Our Fifth Sunday Night singers were our own “Blessings” and they are appropriately named. Their membership changes from time to time, but on this night Bethany Beckett, Carrie Hunt, Angie Chapman, Jennifer Chapman, Erin Carter and Cassie Maynor made up the group. What a blessing they are! And afterwards, Youth Ministries served everyone ice cream in the Family Center. A great night!
Sincere Revival presented special music Sunday night, August 7. The group consists of Randy Shaffer, Dan and Debbie Moore, and Greg Tingler. They are all very talented and the presence of the Spirit was evident.
CHURCH WEBSITE – NEW!
Pastor Greg has spent quite a few hours developing our new website, which looks great and is easy to use. It is still under development, so watch for even more improvements. Our new address is www.beulahann1874.org. You can check for the latest announcements, and if you want to book the church facilities for an event, you can easily check the church calendar before you call the church office to book. Don’t forget the bookmark the page!
WVBC CONVENTION DELEGATES
The 157th Annual Meeting of our West Virginia Baptist Convention will be at Summersville Baptist Church on October 20 & 21, with the theme, “Intentionally Engaging Communities for Christ.” As always, there will be excellent speakers, much to learn, and great fellowship. It is encouraging to meet and worship with fellow Baptist from all over the state.
Beulah Ann’s delegation is Pastor Greg Lunsford, Sunday School Superintendent Tom McComas, and elected delegates Jim & Jo Ross, and Vera Miller, and alternates are Jeanne Lunsford and Patty Morrison.
If you are interested in taking this lovely fall trip, please see Jo Ross for more information.
ENDURING LOVE is a ministry that focuses on church planting and discipleship across the Middle East and North Africa. American Baptists support 29 missionaries across seven countries. In June, Todd McClure, WVBC Minister of Missions, Finance and Communications, traveled to Lebanon with Enduring Love, on a two-week mission trip. On June 5th, they witnessed the baptisms of six new believers, all from Druze and Muslim backgrounds. This brought their total baptisms to 55 over the past year. They then traveled to Sudan, which is less than .5% evangelical. They met with several Darfuri believers, who came to Christ while in refugee camps. Enduring Love supports their church planting efforts. Then in Egypt, they visited a discipleship school established by Enduring Love. Todd reports that it was incredible to see first-hand how God is at work across these predominately Muslim areas. “There is a great spiritual awakening and people are coming to Christ in record numbers.”

I FORGOT TO PRAY
I got up early this morning
It was time to start the day,
I had so very much to do,
I didn’t take time to pray.
Troubles came tumbling on me,
Heavier became my tasks,
I wondered why God didn’t help me,
He said, “Child, you didn’t ask.”
I tried to see truth and beauty,
The day stayed dark and bleak,
I wondered why God didn’t show me,
He said, “Child, you didn’t seek.”
I tried to enter God’s presence,
I used all the keys to the lock,
God tenderly, lovingly answered,
“My child, you didn’t knock.”
I got up early the next morning,
I made ready to start the day,
I had so very much to do, but –
I took the time to pray.

Humble pie: best eaten at home.
When it comes to fine dining, crow is rarely on the menu. Nor is humble pie the dessert of choice. No one likes to be “put in their place.” Yet, often, we set ourselves up for just such a possibility. How so?
As Jesus notes, when we place ourselves in the best positions, we become targets for those who genuinely have the right to them. But unfortunately, we may also back our host into the awkward position of asking us to “step down.”
How highly do you think of yourself?
Scripture teaches that God does not respect persons. The rich, powerful, and influential are no less in danger of hellfire than the poor, powerless, and inconsequential. When one has a healthy understanding of his worth in Christ, humbling himself becomes an extension of that relationship. Furthermore, in Christ, our identity is in Him, not in some worldly definition. Therefore, we can rest in Christ and not worry about how the world esteems us.
Jesus, “God with us,” not only taught humility, but He also demonstrated it repeatedly. In His first incarnation, he was born into a poor family, birthed in a stable, and laid in a feed trough. Later, in Gethsemane, He restrained the legions of angels (Matt.26:53), ready to come to his defense. Finally, on the cross, He prays for His executioners (Luke 23:34) and “gives his life a ransom for many” (Matt. 20:28).
If anyone ever deserved the upper room, it was Jesus. Instead, he chose humility and obedience to the Father.
The Apostle Paul counseled “… to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;…” Romans 12:3. Are we guilty of overestimating our importance or influence? I have been. If you’re honest, you probably have also. An inflated ego is frequently the offspring of pride and arrogance. There’s no place for pride and arrogance in the body of Christ.
