The MISSION PROJECT for November is Christmas Baskets. We need funds to buy supplies to help those in need, as well as honor those in our church and community who are widowed, elderly, have serious health conditions, or are in assisted living. We need to purchase a few grocery store gift cards and lots of fruit. We also need folks to bring individually wrapped Christmas cakes, cookies, and candies. (There is a basket in the foyer.) We will also need help with assembly and distribution of the baskets. Thanks!

It’s the middle of October, and a New Year peaks over the horizon, as the Church soldiers on. But is it effective at its mission? We hold services on Sundays and Wednesdays, but is that what we are called to do? We sponsor Children’s Church and Youth Services. Is that part of Christ’s plan? We hold revivals, host community dinners, and sponsor many events. Is that wrong? Not necessarily. Purpose matters.
Everything we do must be fortified with prayer, seasoned with grace, and stirred by the Great Commission to “… go ye therefore and teach all nations…” The Church’s primary purpose is to win the lost to Jesus Christ and disciple believers to know Him intimately. If our practices further our purpose, they are worthwhile. However, the work can sometimes take on an energy and direction of its own, and we can be guilty of falling into step with it rather than crafting and cultivating it to be fruitful and productive. Fruit-bearing trees must be pruned to produce more abundantly. Revival reminds us of the importance of urgency, the reality of hell, and the salvation found in Christ alone.
I’m a big fan of Revival because it changed my life. I was saved, but living carnally. I was miserable, selfish, and disillusioned with my life and where I was headed. But one Revival night, the Holy Spirit convicted me of my sins, encouraged me to repent, and return to my Father. I did. With tears streaming and my heart pounding, I fell on my knees and confessed my sins to God. Instantly, I felt the weight of my sin lifted. The fire of my flickering faith erupted, and I’ve been living for Him ever since. I’ve failed, struggled, and had tough times, but God never fails me. Spirit-filled Revival cleanses, resets, and renews. Revival is for you. Believe it! ~~Pastor Greg

MARCELLA BUTCHER O’LYNN, 88, of Barboursville, whose funeral was Sept. 24. She was a member of the church and she and her late husband, Jim, attended faithfully until her illness prevented.
RYDER SHORTRIDGE, 9, of Barboursville, lost his life in an ATV accident Sept. 16. He is survived by his parent Josh and Joni Shortridge, his twin sister, and two other twin siblings. Josh is a co-worker of several Beulah Anners who work at the Cabell County Courthouse.
WESLEY SMITH, 53, of Ona, passed away Oct. 11. He was a friend to many in the church.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY NEWS
The Children’s Ministry Fall Attendance Contest ended the last Sunday of September. We had 17 winners: Sadie and Bradley Neal, Carter Scarberry, Keeley Carter, Abilene Chapman, Harper Christian, Kinley Hall, Arianna and JoJo Cook, Julianna Lawson, Avery Black, Finn Shafer, Sammy Blankenship, Addie and Ryker Adkins, Kate and Lucas Hall. They won a trip to see Noah’s Ark in Kentucky.
Saturday, October 12th, we loaded up 17 kids along with 18 adults who were parents or grandparents and our Children’s Ministry Team. The Lord blessed us with a beautiful day. The kids were overwhelmed with the size of the Ark. We all learned from this trip. The kids also enjoyed the zoo and playground.
Not getting home until 9 pm that evening we thought the kids might sleep in on Sunday. But we are so proud of all the parents – all the winners were at church Sunday morning!! They put God first. God Bless you all.

PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH
Pastor Greg and his wife Jeanne are certainly appreciated here, all year round. But in this month designated to appreciate them, the church and various groups within the church have tried to show them with cards and gifts. We can never repay them for their dedication and sacrifice, but we can thank them.

GOOD NEWS NUGGETS
J Our Fifth Sunday Night Sing on Sept. 29 was a great success. Jack Runion did a wonderful job once again. Thanks, Jack.
J Our sanctuary choir traveled out John’s Creek Road on Monday, Oct. 7 to sing at Mt.Zion Baptist Church for their revival. Chuck Elkins is the pastor, and Mark Finley was the evangelist. We had 18 in the choir, 9 men and 9 women! Add Duane and the pianist, and we had twenty, which filled their choir loft perfectly.
J What a nice surprise! Macs Hall, who has been attending here for quite some time, sang and played piano for us on Sunday morning, Oct. 6. Most of us did not know he had this talent. He did an amazing job singing “He Touched Me” and “The Unseen Hand.” We will have to have more of this, Macs.
J We were able to assist with HurricaneHelene recovery this month. We gathered supplies for babies, including food, bottles, wipes, toys and many other things. Our two quilting groups had made sixteen baby quilts throughout the summer, not having a particular place in mind to donate them, and suddenly this very great need arose. So, all those quilts along with a large collection of baby supplies were sent to a church in Erwin, Tennessee on Oct. 11. More baby supplies and all types of clothing has since come in and will be delivered soon. One way to donate to help hurricane relief is to give a check made to the church, with OGHS-Helene (or Milton) in the memo line. One Great Hour of Sharing donations are administered very wisely by the WV Baptist Convention.
GBA ANNUAL MEETING
On Thursday night, Sept. 26, delegates from the churches of the Guyandotte Association gathered for their annual meeting at Twenty-Sixth Street Baptist Church in Huntington. Baptist Temple, Barboursville, Beulah Ann, Fifth Avenue, Hamlin, Hope Christian Center, Milton, New Baptist, Providence, Twenty-Sixth Street, and Union were represented, and WVBC President Dr. Mike Sisson and Area Minister Evan Arkell were in attendance. Our Association Constitution was updated and revised, and Officers were elected. Bill Dingess is now our Moderator. Camp Ona has many needs and volunteers are welcomed with open arms to help in various capacities. Twenty-Sixth Street Baptist Church did a wonderful job of hosting and providing a delicious spaghetti supper.
SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
On December 26, 2024, Beulah Ann will be 150 years old! The Anniversary Committee planned many events, and we want to encourage everyone to attend, especially those of you who have moved away, because we would love to have you visit “home” and worship with us on any or all of these special events. Our events started in June when we turned 149½! Here are the upcoming events:
è Sun., Nov. 17, 11:00 am – Old Fashioned Dress-up Day & ThanksgivingService. Fellas, get your suspenders out, and ladies, find your bonnet! We can’t wait to see what you come up with. (For ideas, look at the 1999 tri-fold in the Historical Display room.)
è Sun., Dec. 29, 11:00 – Sesquicentennial Celebration! Historical quilts will be on display,and we will open the Time Capsule that was created in 1999 at our 125th Anniversary. We will have a dinner with a very special cake! Our newSesquicentennial quilt will be on display also.
The Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class has graciously allowed us to use their classroom for our historical displays. You may visit any time the church is open, or during office hours, Tues.-Fri., 9 am-1 pm. Our new church directory will be ready by our anniversary also, and an update tothe church history that was written by Mildred Caldwell up through 1999 will also be completed. Some new scrapbooks have recently been added to the display room, including obituaries from 2015 to 2023 (thanks to Pat Grass for her work on this) and our Youth from 2024-2028.
REVIVAL IN PROGRESS
We are in revival as of this writing. Jeff Fetty, Pastor of Main Street Baptist Church in Point Pleasant, has been bringing powerful messages. Jeff grew up in this church and has shared several memories, and has expressed his appreciation of our late Pastor Paul’s counsel.
On Sunday evening, special music was provided by A New Dawning, a quartet that includes Pam Ferguson, who attended her a few years. She did an amazing job singing, “God Walks the Dark Hills.” Jeff started off revival by bringing us an “Urgent Message.” He gave impressive facts showing we are indeed in the end times.
On Monday, the choir from Mt. Zion blessed us with good singing, and Jeff continued the urgent message by telling us about Hell and Eternity. Using many scriptures, he brought out ten points about Hell: 1. Everlasting; 2. Fire; 3. Torments; 4. Thirst; 5. Loneliness; 6. Regret; 7. Darkness; 8. Weeping; 9. Gnashing of teeth; 10. Hell is not for you. This is stark contrast to what many people’s idea of the afterlife is.
On Tuesday, the choir from Lighthouse brought wonderful music. Jeff preached about “Escaping the Roaring Lion.” He really brought this to life.
On Wednesday, our own choir sang, and Jeff preached how “God is the Great Refiner,” from Isaiah 48:1-11. Jeff worked at WV Steel for 20 years and knows a lot about refining, and his examples were spot on. We have two more nights as of this writing. If you couldn’t attend, you are encouraged to listen to these sermons on Facebook or You Tube.
OLD-TIME HOMECOMING
What a great spiritual homecoming we enjoyed on Sept. 15. At our 11 am worship service, Blessings sang “How Great is Our God,” and the choir sang “How Great Thou Art,” “Church in the Wildwood”, and “Till We See Christ.” Pastor Greg brought the morning message entitled “Will You Hear Him?” from Acts 28:20-28. Afterward, we enjoyed a sumptuous Homecoming meal, taking our time and enjoying each other’s company and viewing the historical displays. We reassembled at 2 pm, and the Rowsey Family Singers brought us wonderful songs, including “All My Help Comes From the Lord,” “King Jesus Is Coming,” “I Will Sing the Goodness of God,” and many more. They were a great blessing. Then Calvin Ray Evans of Evangelistic Outreach brought the Homecoming Message. He spoke about the Jewish feast of Purim, from Esther 9:20-32. He noted that the name of God does not appear in the book of Esther, but God’s fingerprint touches every verse. He told us how the Jewish people use rocks, shoes, and noise makers during the feast of Purim to help them remember all that God has done for them. He urged us to continue to make a record of our church, write things down to remind us of what God has done for us.

Jacqueline C. Bias, 81, of Milton, WV, whose funeral was Thurs., Sept. 26. She was the mother of CMHS principal Kelly Daniels.
Ruth Geraldine “Peggy” Chapman, 89, of Ona, WV, whose funeral was Mon., Sept. 23. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her sons, Richard Marvin Chapman (Billie Jean), and Brent Chapman (Deby), 4 grandchildren, 3 great – grandchildren, and 1 great – great grandson. She was a faithful member of our church, and will be missed by her many friends.
Shirley Baisden Edmunds,80, of Milton, WV, whose funeral Thurs., Sept. 26. She was a friend to many in our church.
Marcella Butcher O’Lynn, 88, of Barboursville, WV, whose funeral was Tues., Sept. 24. She and her late husband Jim, attended our church faithfully until the time of Marcella’s illness.

He was a former Milton Volunteer Firefighter, and friend to many in the church.Ryder Shortridge, 9, of Barboursville, lost his life in an ATV accident Monday, Sept. 16. He is survived by his parents Josh and Joni Shortridge, his twin, and two other twin siblings. Josh is a co-worker of several Beulah Anners who work at the Courthouse.
